are the leading voice for autism in the world, but their stories are often behind the scenes.” Grazi Gadia
Unlimited Creativity, Unshakable Hope: Every Brushstroke Tells a Tale of Overcoming Challenges.
In 2013, Grazi founded the social project “Eyecontact, – Lives shaped by Autism.” Through this project, she became a passionate activist, focusing on embracing mothers of autistic children. Eyecontact highlights the leadership of mothers and fathers of autistics making a difference in Brazil and worldwide. Grazi told their stories through comics and traveling exhibitions like “When the light of my eyes meets your,” which toured Brazil in autism congresses.
Dr. Carlos Gadia received his degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 1980. He completed his residency in Pediatric Neurology at the University of Miami School of Medicine and specialized in Childhood Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he was also an Instructor at the Department of Neurology – Harvard Medical School.
No profit Eyecontact was created in August 2023 by Grazi Gadia and her husband Carlos Gadia, MD. Dr. Gadia is a pediatric neurologist specializing in autism, which is why Grazi began his mission to welcome mothers of autistic people from Brazil and other countries who came to be treated with Dr. Gadia since 2007. Grazi put the spotlight on the stories of overcoming these mothers, always with an artistic frame.
The mission of Eyecontact is to welcome ASD families and to include autistic artists in the job market through the arts.
We imagine the arts permeating the treatment of autism and a world perceiving the individuals with ASD much more for their abilities and potentials
Our focus is clear: inform, include, and support. Disseminate knowledge, promote job opportunities through art, and offer a friendly shoulder to ASD families.
